Sunday Sleepover At The Zetter

Sundays are for relaxing, taking it slow, savouring every moment to will away the weekdays. And what better way to eke out the best day, than in a relaxing hotel retreat where you can check out late. Just off of the buzzing streets of Clerkenwell awaits the Zetter Hotel, your new sanctuary. Enter a modernist reception area with contemporary accents and meet your hosts at the lacquered claret red check-in desk. A botanical scene embellishes the walls, a beautiful, welcoming menagerie sitting amongst the greenery, welcoming you... it's clear this is no ordinary hotel.

Restauranteurs Michael Benyan and Mark Sainsbury wanted to move away from the conventional for their first hotel project. They called on interior designers Precious McBane with a brief to create a distinctive abode, a step away from the generic in the heart of Clerkenwell, the buzzing creative hub in London's east. The Zetter is boutique and bespoke, blending the historical features of this converted Victorian warehouse with contemporary, playful touches and a quintessentially English feel.

Each of the 59 rooms has a unique look, continuing the modern meets vintage style. Clean lines apposed by antique furniture upholstered in striking patterned fabrics and textiles. Accessories in bright palettes accent the crisp Egyptian cotton and complement the imagery of bold modern graphics and delicate botanicals adorned on exposed brick walls. In other rooms, you'll find sleek modernist chairs in bright velvets and unique textures.

Choose from expansive rooftop 'Studios' or bijou, perfectly formed 'Guest rooms'. In the lofty heights of the upper level; the Studios afford ample space to relax and unwind in the calm milieu with an abundance of light through the wall-to-ceiling windows. Recline on sunchairs on the private balconies and take-in panoramic city views across the rooftops of London's east and the bells of Whitechapel.

At the Zetter, it's all about the details -  Fabian Monheim's playful graphics add a sense of fun to blankets, bathrobes and other thoughtful accessories. You'll find more smart additions like personally selected Penguin paperbacks, a Marshall retro radio, hot water bottles and even an honesty food tray. They'll also throw in a bike during your stay, not just any bike but the style-master that is Brompton.

Across the cobbled square, stands sister, The Zetter Townhouse with cosy English styling, soft armchairs and fireplaces. A place to relax and eat. Shoreditch is just down the road, with its abundance of hipster bars and eclectic nightlife. Then again, if you're more into a relaxing game of Backgammon than a jaunt on a Brompton, take it slow with the 'Sunday Sleepover'. If you book directly, upon arrival, you'll receive a complimentary cocktail, £30 room service credit, a selection of board games in your room, continental breakfast and a late checkout at 2 pm.

Shoreditch can wait!
