Her

When I close my eyes, I then can see... some... things. They called me witch.
— Edward Tseng

A long-time favourite of ours, Jamie Wei Huang took her first steps into a new fashion medium with the release of her first digital film "HER" presented on digital schedule for London Fashion Week SS21.

For this collection, the designer worked with Director ed Yenhan and reinterpreted a novelette "Witch" by Edward Tseng for her first digital presentation. Through the film, the designer explored the timely emotions evoked by separation and union, obedience and oppression through surrealist elements.

Through the SS21 photography, Manbo Key takes the collection in another direction; from the vast surreal deserts of the video into the confines of our homes. Shot against dark green corners that speak of diminutive interiors, the models' poses nod to the multifaceted face of the home; a place to play, socialise, eat, sleep, dream.

The girl suddenly got up, grinning. the eyes remaining shut, she started dancing.

Just then, a spectre appeared, in the corner of the room. And that’s how we were taken into her world.
— Edward Tseng

The collection is contemporary cool in bold graphic textures and patterns and playful silhouettes that pop against the dark interiors and arid desert sands. As we face regional lockdowns and a new version of fashion week, it raises questions about how we view our wardrobe, who do we dress for and what matters to us. But if we have to face the confines of our own homes then we would rather not succumb to daily athleisure and chill-wear, we're in favour of keeping the fashion bastion flying, and this is our collection of choice.
